Our Vision
We envision strong midwifery services, serving the needs of birthing people, across Canada and globally.
We provide variety of services
Accreditation
Dr. Morgan is one of less than 10 midwives trained by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) to examine and report on any midwifery school’s ability to meet the standards set by the member nations for recognition of graduates as professional midwives. Dr. Morgan is also trained by the Association of Accrediting Agencies of Canada (AAAC) to serve as an accreditor of health science professional training schools in Canada. Dr. Morgan has experience on both sides of accreditation, having authored reports for provincial (IQAP) and national oversight. She has also reviewed reports as a member of the National Midwifery Education Accreditation Council.
Equanimity Midwifery Consulting can provide coaching and mentoring to organizations for accreditation. Approached as a group project, which includes the institution and key stakeholders, opportunities for improvement can be identified and quality improvement measures instituted. Supports include curriculum mapping of learning objectives with national competencies, exploration of educational delivery models, evaluation, governance structure, and accountability.
Education
Dr. Morgan is an experienced midwifery educator with knowledge of curriculum design and development, for synchronous and asynchronous learning, delivered in-person, on line, or via hybrid models. Expert consultation available to discuss care management training, clinical competency assessment and tracking, admissions policies and procedures, professional behaviour guidance, and racism and equity considerations.
Regulation
Dr. Morgan’s main area of expertise is health policy, particularly as it relates to reproductive health care and contraception, delivered by interdisciplinary teams, often in rural, remote, and northern settings. These are termed ‘low-resource’ settings due to the difficulties designing and staffing sustainable models of care. These settings exist throughout Canada and globally and require creative solutions and flexibility to realise their goals of universal accessibility.
Equanimity Midwifery Consulting can provide guidance on regulatory issues including scopes of practice, compensation and funding models, health care system design and function, models of care i.e., employee versus independent contractor, competency construction and updates, and meaningful stakeholder involvement.
